Construction of the US$260 million Daswin office tower in Central Jakarta kicked off Friday, a consortium of developers has said.  The premises will be situated at the intersection of Jl. Rasuna Said and Jl. Prof. Dr. Satrio.

“This large-scale development project will involve the construction of a 50-story office building, occupying 16,000 square meters in the heart of Jakarta’s central business district,” PT Windas Development, which consists of Japan-based real estate giant Mitsubishi Estate, Indonesian manufacturing company and property developer Gesit Group and diversified conglomerate Santini Group,  said in a statement.

“The office tower will be supported by retail and multifunction facilities on the lower floors, bringing the total floor area to over than 140,000 sq m,” the company said further, adding that the project is scheduled for completion in early 2021.

According to the company, a joint operation between Shimizu and Total Bangun Persada has also been appointed for the project development, which is incorporating an architectural design by Mitsubishi Jisho Sekkei, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Estate.

“This [project] will be the maiden business project for Mitsubishi Estate before it further develops office buildings in Indonesia,” it said.

To date, Mitsubishi Estate has run businesses in diverse fields related to real estate in Japan, including an office-building business centered in the Marunouchi district in central Tokyo, a retail property business, residential business and hotel business. The company’s area of operations also includes the United States, the United Kingdom and extends to Asian countries such as China and Singapore.
