Gerindra Party Secretary-General Deputy Andre Rosiade confirmed that his party has not appointed a single name for the vice presidential candidate slot to be paired with Prabowo Subianto.
“Pak Prabowo’s vice presidential candidate has not been finalized,” said Andre today, March 29.
The discussion that would determine the candidate will be held with coalition parties, such as the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).
Some of the considerations in appointing a vice president candidate are their electoral effect towards the coalition party and whether the person would be accepted by the coalition party.
Gerindra is likely to support Prabowo Subianto as their presidential candidate in the 2019 Presidential Election even though Prabowo has yet declared his candidacy.
The party has collected at least 15 names that could possibly be Prabowo’s vice presidential candidate that comes from a wide range of fields such as non-political parties, businessmen, military, and even professionals.
Meanwhile, similar to Gerindra, PKS has filtered at least nine individuals from its members to compete in the presidential election.
