Phase one of Jakarta’s first light rail transit (LRT) from Kelapa Gading to the Velodrome is to begin commercial operations in April this year.
PT LRT Jakarta project director Iwan Takwin said the construction of all six stations on the first phase route is 97 percent complete.
The six stations are the Pagangsaan Dua, located at the LRT depot in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, the Kelapa Gading Mall, the South Boulevard, the Pulomas, the Equestrian and the Velodrome in Pulo Gadung, East Jakarta.
“There is no major construction left, only the finishing and lift testing in six LRT stations,” Iwan said on Wednesday as reported by beritajakarta.id.
He said the company was also preparing for the LRT’s commercial operations in April, such by conducting the final tests of the LRT system signals, preparing additional facilities in stations and other things.
“We will do the trial run by the end of February. We aim to commercially operate in April,” Iwan said.
