Travel and lifestyle service provider Traveloka announced Schengen visa insurance as its latest product on Wednesday to cater to Indonesian travelers planning to visit Europe.
“With the availability of Schengen visa insurance to ensure a safe and convenient trip for users traveling to Europe, now travelers can find all their needs accessible in their hands,” Traveloka global partnership head Yady Guitana said in a statement, referring to the already available features such as flights, attractions and hotel bookings on the platform.
The insurance itself is said to cover accidents and sickness, flight delays and cancellations, as well as baggage loss.
Traveloka’s travel insurance for the Schengen visa is available at a starting price of Rp 83,500 (US$5.9) for Schengen Basic and Rp 335,000 for Platinum, all for a one-week coverage.
A Schengen visa allows travelers to visit a total of 26 countries in Europe, including the Netherlands, France, Austria, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Spain. For Indonesians, applying for the visa requires paperwork that includes travel insurance.
According to the Delegation of the European Union to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, at least 360,000 Indonesians traveled to the EU in 2015 to study, for a vacation or for business purposes, and the number continues to increase every year.
